Getting to Castle Carrock

Music on the Marr takes place on the village green (Marr). The best post code to use is CA8 9LU.

The festival takes place adjacent to the Duke of Cumberland pub.

Castle Carrock is a community that combines a respect for heritage and history with the practicalities of life in the 21st century.

The village website www.castlecarrock.com has lots of information on it.

There is a new scheme by Go Car Share This scheme is great for the environment, it’s better for everyone’s pocket and more people can drink more of our fine local brew.

So if you are travelling from outside the local area who knows you may get a lift with one of the festival stars, or perhaps you’ll make a life long friend.

Unfortunately there is no public transport in and out of the village. The closest railway station is Brampton Junction which is 3.4 miles to Castle Carrock. This is on the main line from Carlisle to Newcastle and has a very reliable service, national rail services will have the timetables available on Northern Rail | Travel Times.

If you prefer to travel by bus, the 685 bus service from both ends of Hadrian’s Wall are available. They will take you to Brampton and you could get a taxi from there to Castle Carrock.

Local taxi service numbers are:

  • Atkinson: 016977 3929
  • Brampton Cars Telephone : 016977 3386
  • Airbus 2000 : 016977 3735

Mobile signal isn’t too bad in the village, vodaphone is probably best. You can plug in and charge up in various places – just ask a steward.

We also have a public phone box on the Marr that works.
